On the scene for almost five years The Disguise awaken from yet another extended slumber, this time to play our final show and deliver a soundtrack to Perth’s never ending urban sprawl and the peculiarities of growing older. Sharing common members with the likes of Apricot Rail & Wolves at the Door, The Disguise play songs of honesty and devoid of pretention that recall the sounds & ideals of the mid to late 90’s guitar bands.

New single “Shipyard” typifies this, sounding like a long lost pop gem with a boy/girl vocal approach at the forefront. Elsewhere tracks such as “Frozen Faces” & “Through the Looking Glass” showcase a marriage of dreamy vocals, strange pop structures & outward guitar experimentation.

Although The Disguise are calling it a day, we are excited at the opportunity to leave a legacy through one final live show in the form of an album launch. Sharing us on stage the night will be beautiful songstress Kathryn Tree Rollins, local psychedelic oddballs Seams & Brisbane act Do The Robot whom we have decided to fly over especially to give the night some extra sparkle. Thankyou for the support over the years, may your day be filled with unexpected, happy surprises!

    British India Support

Posted in Gigs on April 19th, 2009 by Matt

If you’re free this thursday (23rd of April) come down early (I’m talkin 8:30 early) to Mojo’s to watch us supporting British India and The Reserves. Word of warning, entry is 25 clams (I know, pretty steep in these troubled times - but hopefully K Rudd has stimulated you all by now so you’ll have plenty o’ cash to spare).

Speaking of Eastern States supports, we’ve managed to pick up a splendid gig down at the Norfolk basement with none other than Jamie Hutchings of Sydney’s Bluebottle Kiss! It’s on Saturday the 16th of May. Come one, come all, some people (mainly me) are already calling it the gig of the year. At least say you’re attending on the facebook event.
